Everything You Need to Know

What is home care?

Home care provides personal and non-medical support in the comfort of your own home. Our caregivers assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication reminders, and companionship. The goal is to help your loved one remain independent, safe, and comfortable in a familiar environment — without the need for a nursing facility.

What services does Guiding Angels offer?

We offer a comprehensive range of services to meet the needs of seniors and their families:

  • Home Care: Personal care, dementia care, 24/7 care, medication management, meal preparation, and companionship.
  • Specialty Private Pay Services: Pest control, deep cleaning, transportation, concierge services, and home maintenance.

Visit our Services page to learn more about each offering.

How quickly can home care begin?

In most cases we can begin services within 24–48 hours of your initial consultation. We understand that care needs can be urgent, and our team works quickly to match you with the right caregiver and put your care plan in place. Contact us today and we'll get started right away.

Does my insurance cover home care?

Many insurance plans — including long-term care insurance and veterans benefits — may cover home care services. Coverage depends on your specific plan and the services required. We recommend contacting us directly so our team can help verify your benefits and determine what coverage is available to you at no cost.

Is home care eligible for Medicaid?

Yes — we accept Medicaid Waiver programs, including the Aged & Disabled (A&D) waiver and the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waiver in Indiana, Tennessee, and Illinois. These programs can help eligible individuals receive home care services without the full out-of-pocket cost. Contact us to learn about eligibility requirements and how to apply.

Will I have the same caregiver each visit?

Consistency is important to us and to the families we serve. We do our best to provide consistent caregiver assignments so clients can build a trusting, comfortable relationship with their caregiver. In cases of illness, vacation, or scheduling changes, we'll always inform you in advance and introduce a familiar backup caregiver.

Is home care the same as skilled nursing?

No — they are different types of care. Home care (like what Guiding Angels provides) focuses on non-medical personal assistance with daily living activities: bathing, dressing, companionship, meal prep, and maintaining quality of life. Skilled nursing involves licensed nurses performing clinical, medical procedures such as wound care, IV therapy, or post-surgical monitoring. If your loved one needs medical care at home, we can help connect you with the appropriate resources.
